Allan Sahagun (MS '05)

New leadership. Allan Sahagun, MS ’05, has taken over for Kim Foo Chow, MS ’96, as the National Chairman of the Milken Scholars Alumni Association. Kim Foo did an outstanding job during his term and Allan will only continue the trend.


Khalilah Karim (MS '01)

International Finance. This fall Khalilah Karim, MS ’01, and Rashan Jibowu, MS ’02, began their advanced education at the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton Business School.


Emanuel Yekutiel (MS '07)

It could be the start of a great career in public service. Emanuel Yekutiel, MS ‘07 was elected the president of the freshman class at Williams College in February. Congratulations Mr. Popular!


Michael McAloon (MS '15)

Hanging with Coach K. Michael McAloon, MS ‘15, was selected as one of only three new student team managers of the NCAA Champion, Duke “Blue Devils” Mens Basketball team. He will assist in multiple areas of the program and travel with the team for games on the road. Congratulations!


Ruiquan "Johnny" Jin (MS '05)

Charting a new course: Ruiquan Jin, MS ‘05, is stepping up his work as the director of development for two national education ventures. In this capacity, he helped found, develop the blueprint and secure major investments to launch a new charter school management organization that will serve over 10,000 children in its initial network.


Amber Carmi-Smith (MS '07)

Thirst for Knowledge: Amber Carmi-Smith, MS ‘07, is the founder and president of the recently recognized campus nonprofit, Oxy W.A.R.P., which stands for: Occidental College Water Awareness and Reduction in Pollution. It is an innovative student group with an objective to raise awareness of a variety of critical water issues and to cultivate innovative approaches for responding to water pollution.


Joelle Simpson (MS '95)

Big Promotion. Dr.Joelle Simpson, MS ‘95, was named the Director of Emergency Preparedness for the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. In this role, Joelle will provide strategic leadership for Children's National's disaster preparedness, response, and community outreach efforts. Congratulations!

Veronika Hecko Wu (MS '03)

Serge Sverdlov (MS '97)

Scholar patent alert: Serge Sverdlov, MS ‘97, is part of a group that was issued a patent in March for their work with Microsoft in designing interface infrastructure for creating and interacting with web services. Congratulations!
