Favour Akingbemi

Biography

Favour Akingbemi is a second-year student at Yale College, studying both African American Studies and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies. She currently serves as co-president of Yale’s first and only premier step team, Steppin’ Out. She also works at the African American Cultural Center (also known as the House) in Student Leadership Development. Both on the step team and at the House, Favour works to help students in various cultural organizations and performing arts groups hone their leadership skills, and access resources to better support their members and grow their organizations. She continues to work with community organizations in her hometown, South Los Angeles, and hopes to use her experiences at Yale to continue to give back to her community. Some of her future goals include becoming a lifetime community organizer, working in secondary education, and becoming an attorney.
