Mireya Almazán

Biography

Mireya earned her MPP from Georgetown University and a BA in Economics from Harvard University. Mireya is Head of Mobile Money with GSMA where she works with members and partners to accelerate the development of the mobile money ecosystem in Latin America. Prior to the GSMA, Mireya was a Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where she focused on identifying new investment opportunities related to financial inclusion and managed a portfolio of agent and mobile banking grants across multiple geographies.

Mireya Almazán (MS '99)

No rest for the dedicated. A week after earning her master's degree in international policy and development from Georgetown University, Mireya Almazán, MS ‘99 spent six months in Johannesburg, South Africa working with a development consulting firm to combat child labor practices. Upon her return, she joined the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as a member of their Global Development team.
