Justin Hogenauer

Environmental Science

Biography

Justin Hogenauer is a third-year student at UC Berkeley studying Society & Environment and Business Administration. He is an Undergraduate Peer Advisor in the College of Natural Resources and the Student Director for the Cal Alumni Association Board of Directors. In 2019 Justin worked abroad as a Summer Counselor at Space Camp Turkey, served as a Vice President for Berkeley's Residence Hall Assembly, and was a Public Service Center Haas Leader, where he earned a scholarship to teach environmental justice to elementary students in Oakland. He also interned at Boeing, where he worked alongside professional scientists on experiments in carbon fiber manufacturing and ceramics testing. Justin has studied endangered rhinos in South Africa, built drought-tolerant gardens and compost systems at his high school. He is an Achievement Award Alumni Scholar, 2-time Leadership Award Scholar, and an Air Force ROTC scholarship recipient. Justin will commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force after graduation to pursue a career as a pilot.

Justin Hogenauer (MS '18)

National Security Matter: Justin Hogenauer, MS '18, is a recipient of the 2021 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Scholarship, administered by the Institute of International Education.  The scholarship will allow him to study Thai Language in Bangkok as part of his degree.  The Boren scholarships is meant to support language and cultural learning of future public servants, to strengthen the Federal Workforce. Congratulations on this honor Justin!
