Biography

Jason Young, a tech entrepreneur and investor, has dedicated his life's work to transforming technology, education, and financial solutions into tools for enduring economic empowerment.

Currently, Jason serves as the managing partner at Totally Human, an inclusive human-centered design agency. Working in collaboration with senior leaders at Fortune 500 companies, the agency accelerates their digital transformation and innovation initiatives.

He also holds a position as a general partner at Long Term Impact (LTI), a pre-seed EdTech fund with a clear mission of enhancing public K-12 education. LTI directs its investments towards diverse founders and companies deeply committed to fostering a more equitable public K-12 education system.

Prior to spearheading Totally Human, Jason held the role of entrepreneur-in-residence at Citi Ventures. During this time, he collaborated closely with Citibank executives, identifying and actualizing opportunities for organic growth.

Additionally, Jason co-founded and served as CEO of MindBlown Labs, a financial wellness innovation lab. He collaborated with the United States Treasury Department and leading retirement plan providers to create innovative new technology solutions aimed at reaching Millennial audiences. His work was recognized by President Obama, and he was appointed to the President’s Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans.

Jason is co-founder and chair emeritus of The Hidden Genius Project, an award-winning national non-profit that trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Furthermore, he serves as vice chair of the board of directors for the National Endowment for Financial Education. Jason is also a former member of the FINRA Fintech Industry Committee and an elected director for the Harvard Alumni Association.

People’s Choice. Congratulations to Jason Young, MS '00, who’s Hidden Genius Project won the People’s Choice award in the Google Impact Challenge and will receive $500K. The program will connect underserved, young black males with the skills, mentors and experiences that they need to become high-performing entrepeneurs and technologists in a 21st century, global economy. Jason is the CEO and co-founder of MindBlown Labs, a financial literacy software company based in Oakland.

Innovation Explanation: Jason Young, MS ’02, was recognized by American Express and Ashoka as one of forty-five future leaders in social entrepreneurship in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He is the founder of Mindblown Labs, a start-up that makes mobile games that teach young people financial literacy and other 21st Century Skills. Jason will take part in the2013 American Express Emerging Innovators Campaign.
