Spring 2025 Campus Visits included check-ins with 70 Current Scholars at 22 universities across 12 states.

Campus Visits provide a unique opportunity for the Program to learn about each Scholars’ goals and together discuss ways the Program can help them achieve these. The in-person meetings also help build a strong sense of community amongst Scholars. Whether there is one Scholar at a university or fifteen, the Program is intentional about spending dedicated time in-person with each individual. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, freshman Akesh Mallia, MS ‘24, said, “One of the most valuable parts of the campus visits is the opportunity to reflect on my progress through college in the presence of a Milken staff member who is so empathetic and knowledgeable. As ambitious students, it is quite difficult to condense our lives into a conversation over a meal! Yet, this also gives me the chance to think about what has been most meaningful to my life on campus, allowing me to prioritize my efforts following the visit.”

On campuses with multiple Scholars, Campus Visits encourage group gatherings to deepen connections across classes. As they grab a bite to eat or find the perfect pose for photos, Scholars and staff get a chance to create special memories. At the University of Pennsylvania, Sandra Cheah, MS ‘23, shared, “I love that with every visit, we’re able to laugh and share moments from our Penn experience—whether it’s academics, extracurriculars, or projects we’re working on with Milken staff. Knowing that I can always reach out to my fellow Milken-Penn Scholars or the Milken staff for support is one of the reasons I love the Scholar community.”

Creating genuine community allows the Program to better support each Scholars’ goals so that as time goes on, Scholars have a network of peers and mentors to help them successfully navigate academics, personal challenges, and professional endeavors. As the 2024-2025 academic year nears its end, Scholars can look forward to continuing connecting with one another at upcoming summer events including the Recognition Ceremonies where we gather to welcome our newest class and the Annual Milken Scholars Summit, our flagship event that brings together all Scholars currently enrolled in college.
