From conversations on ethical AI to discussions about closing healthcare disparities, Alumni Scholars joined global leaders at the 2026 Milken Institute Global Conference to help shape conversations about the future of innovation and impact. Conversations centered on impact investing, the future of AI, and leadership in an ever-changing world.
In line with the theme, Leading in a New Era, over 1,000 experts spoke at this year’s Milken Institute’s Global Conference hosted at the Beverly Hilton from May 3-6, addressing seismic shifts in health, finance, business, government, technology, philanthropy, culture, and much more. Alumni Scholars, who themselves are trailblazers, creators, and visionaries, brought their expertise to the table and connected with leaders at the helm of change in their fields.
For Dr. Patrice Tully-Williams, MS ‘96, the conference’s value came from its cross-sector collaboration. She reflected on how, “The Global Conference is one of the few forums where all of these disciplines converge in a spirit of genuine problem solving. Health disparities are not resolved in a single sector. They demand coordinated effort across finance, philanthropy, government, and civil society; and this conference brought all of those voices into the same rooms.”
Marcel Anderson, MS ‘99, took advantage of this unique space to share about his company, MyConnect.ai, and the ethical responsibilities leaders have in shaping emerging technologies. He said, “I was able connect with visionary leaders who share my vision for how this great technology can be deployed in ways that help to advance all of humanity.”
With 50 Alumni and Current Scholars in attendance, Global Conference also provided an opportunity for the Program to further foster a supportive community. Mayowa Jolayemi, MS ‘19, who attended all three days of the conference, said, “Getting [Alumni Scholar] perspectives on my next steps and the questions I was grappling with reminded me that the greatest resource the Milken Scholars program provides us is one another.”
After engaging with global leaders and industry pioneers, Alumni Scholars departed the Global Conference committed to serving as collaborative and innovative leaders in a new era.
