This fall, the Milken Scholars team embarked on a journey to visit Milken Scholars at 31 different colleges and universities, in cities across the country. In addition to the many nice meals and conversations shared, Scholars showed us slices of their daily lives around campus. Berkeley Scholars included us in the student tradition of hiking up to the "Big C," Stanford Scholars took us to the top of Hoover Tower for beautiful views of the campus, a GWU Scholar drove us all around D.C. to show us her favorite spots, Caltech Scholars regaled us with stories of a Cal tradition in which Seniors create puzzles for Freshmen to solve, and one Harvard Scholar even brought us in to a large lecture! We discussed issues related to social justice on campus and in the Scholars' larger communities, ever-changing academic and career pathways, pressures associated with being at such prestigious institutions, and everything in between. These visits yet again confirmed how special our Scholars are, as individuals uniquely capable of balancing scholarship, leadership, service, and character to make a profound impact on the people and world around them.
