Biography

I’m currently a sophomore at Emory University on the pre-med track, with a growing passion for pathology. I’ve always been interested in how diseases work on a molecular and cellular level, and pathology really stands out to me because it combines my interests in biology, chemistry, and medicine in a hands-on way. I’m especially interested in cell analysis and understanding how small changes at the cellular level can help explain rare or complex diseases.

My experiences as a medical assistant, hospice volunteer, and research technician in immunology have given me different perspectives on medicine and strengthened my interest in pursuing pathology. I enjoy being able to work directly with patients while also getting involved in the research and investigative side of medicine. In the future, I hope to work in a hospital laboratory, using patient specimens and cellular analysis to help diagnose disease and, eventually, contribute to research that improves how rare and overlooked conditions are understood and diagnosed.

Outside of school and medicine, I spend a lot of my free time practicing and teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which has taught me a lot about discipline, patience, and resilience. I also love baking, especially because it gives me a creative outlet and is something I can share with the people around me.
