Biography
Suzanna Sitomer is founder and Program Director for Harmony Project Oakland, a tuition-free after school ensemble music program in under-served East Oakland, affiliated with HP LA, which serves 2,000 students as part of the LA Philharmonic's educational outreach programs. A career music educator and community leader, Suzanna grew up in Washington, D.C., where she developed a strong sense of community through her involvement with the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the D.C. Youth Orchestra. Her own experiences with music shaped her mission to offer similar opportunities to others for whom access may be challenging. Suzanna earned a master’s in educational leadership at the Education University of Hong Kong, specializing in arts administration and inquiry-based learning. with Harmony Project Bay Area, Suzanna is focused on building relationships to help expand the Oakland music education community through her not-for profit, Oakland Music Matters. She lives in Oakland with her two children.
