Biography

Lena Jones, a graduate of The Archer School for Girls, is a Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation Senator and 2019 American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation Senator. She is a member of the Ron Brown Captains Program and winner of the Herb Alpert Award for Emerging Young Artists. Lena used her 2020-2021 gap year to work for LAUSD and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, as well as to intern for the CA Department of Justice. She completed her theological novel manuscript and is currently seeking agent representation. At Yale, Lena is currently a sophomore majoring in Cognitive Science, with a concentration in truth and persuasion. She intends to apply her studies toward a career in global health and healthcare administration. She seeks to understand the complex ways of getting important health resources to underserved (and often misinformed) communities. From May to August 2023, Lena lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Quito, Ecuador, studying provision of preventative healthcare and emergency services in many distinct contexts. In Quito, she worked with Dr. Esteban Ortiz-Prado, a public health researcher at la Universidad de las Américas in Quito, to create an abroad program that could introduce students like herself to critical concepts in global health. In her free time, Lena writes short stories and sings in Yale's only Christian a cappella group, Living Water.
