Biography
Karen Garcia, a graduate of The Archer School for Girls, is a junior at Columbia University studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science and a concentration in Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals. She is a National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship Finalist and Chinese Language Association of Secondary Schools National Essay Contest Silver Award winner. In high school, she was a member of the Honor Education Council, Executive Board Member for Hermanas Unidas, and Administrative Lead of the InvenTeam, overseeing a $10,000 school grant from Lemelson-MIT to promote invention. At Columbia, she is Vice President of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, co-leads High School workshops for Columbia's Biotech Society, and is an undergraduate researcher at the Glasgow Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at CUIMC.
