Biography

Emely Cardenas is a sophomore at Yale University pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering and certificates in Climate Solutions and Spanish. At Yale, she participates in community service work with the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project (YHHAP) and the Yale Student Environmental Coalition (YSEC). When she’s not studying or volunteering, Emely plays the vihuela in Mariachi Lux et Veritas, Yale’s premier mariachi band, and dances with Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Yale. Emely is interested in fields such as Climate and Planetary Solutions, and Environmental Science. She is passionate about using chemistry and physics to combat the threat of climate change through advancing the use of sustainable energy. A 2025 graduate and Valedictorian of Maywood Center for Enriched Studies, Emely is a proud Los Angeles resident.
