Dayanara Chavez
Biography
Dayanara Chavez, is a Mechanical Engineering student at Northwestern University. A USC Bovard Scholar and National Hispanic Recognition Program honoree, she graduated as valedictorian of Foshay Learning Center. At Northwestern, Dayanara is an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and contributes to the NU Solar Car Team, assisting with projects that develop a sustainable vehicle powered by solar energy. Beyond engineering, she engages in political advocacy initiatives that support and empower local communities in Evanston and on campus. Previously, Dayanara served as President of the STEM/Drone Club, Captain of the Robotics Team, and Captain of the Math Engineering Science Achievement Program. As part of Girls Build LA, she spoke at the 2022 Culture of Democracy Summit, where she championed the power of the Latino vote in local and national elections.
