Get On Board!: Joelle Simpson, MS ‘95, is a member of the National Biodefense Science Board, a federal advisory committee to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) focused on preventing, preparing for, and responding to public health emergencies. 


Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard (MS '89)

All-Star Alum: Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard, MS '89 is changing things up in the Entertainment Industry. Leveraging her role as VP, Associate General Counsel for Viacom Media Networks and BET Networks, Khadijah is working to reduce misogyny, promote diversity, and highlight people of color to inspire the next generation. Her accomplishments were highlighted in Columbia's College Today Alumni Newsletter


Justine Almada (MS '01)

Justine Almada, MS '01, became the inaugural recipient of the Biden Cancer Initiative FIERCE award for Leadership through Exemplary and Awesome Purpose (a.k.a. the Joe Biden Cancer Award) along with her brother Tristan and her sister Camille.  The Almadas are co-founders of The HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation.  They were selected from a pool of 700 individuals and organizations for their efforts in changing the landscape for HPV and anal cancer.


Diego Rentería (MS '07)

Diego Rentería, MS ‘07 was the recipient of the Judith McManus Price Scholarship from the APA Foundation.  The Scholarship is awarded to students that are enrolled in an approved Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) planning program and intend to pursue careers as practicing planners in the public sector.


Harleen Marwah (MS '11)

Eliminating Food Waste: Harleen Marwah, MS ’11 connected with Robert Lee, CEO of Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, an organization that aims to curb food waste in New York City. Harleen interviewed Mr. Lee for a writing competition on food security and was subsequently selected to attend the UN Food and Agriculture Organization Committee on Food Security Conference in Rome, Italy this October. Alixandra Kriegsman (MS '09)

Ali Kriegsman, MS '09 was featured as one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business 2018. Her company Bulletin brings female-run brands to creatively curated retail stores around New York City, plus they donate a generous percentage of their profits to support women's health!


Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard (MS '89)

Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard, MS '89 was honored to receive the Muslim Bar Association of New York's Corporate Counsel of the Year Award at the New York Hilton Hotel on May 10th. She was joined by a wonderful group of family, friends, and colleagues from Viacom. Congratulations Khadijah!


Tiffany Tsang (MS '98)

Congratulations to Tiffany Tsang, MS '98, who has been nominated for an inaugural "Women in Pensions Award 2018", which aims to celebrate and recognize the achievements of women in a sector where they are currently under-represented (in the UK). Awards are announced on June 26, 2018 in London.


Emma Templeton (MS '09)

Emma Templeton, MS ’09 published a paper that was recently covered in the Vox article What smartphone photography is doing to our memories by Brian Resnick. The article discusses technology’s effects on our memory and ultimately our experience of the world around us. Emma’s research as a graduate student at Dartmouth dives deeper into assessing smartphones’ impact on our cognitive abilities. Plus, she recently received an award for being an outstanding graduate student teacher, nominated by her undergraduate students!
